I’m Molly Annabell Taylor, a New Zealand–based fashion designer exploring the intersection of structure, emotion, and identity through garment design. My work investigates how clothing holds memory, how the act of making can both reveal and conceal, and how material choices become vessels for feeling.
Each garment is developed through an iterative process of deconstruction and refinement. I work with exposed seams, inverted construction, and sculptural silhouettes that challenge the boundaries between precision and imperfection. My designs often exist between tension and release, fragility and resilience, revealing the intimacy of process within the final form.
Rooted in a restrained yet intentional aesthetic, my practice merges conceptual exploration with technical precision. I am drawn to material honesty, architectural tailoring, and garments that evolve with the body and time.
In 2025, I was honoured with the Lauren Hemens Award for Commercial Potential, recognising the strength of my design philosophy in bridging conceptual depth with refined market awareness. This acknowledgment affirmed my belief that experimental design can still exist within a space of accessibility and emotional resonance.
For me, fashion is a dialogue between body and material, a study of tension, presence, and the quiet power of what remains unfinished.
